Venturing away from the idyllic beaches of Cancun, I left my hotel, the Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun. I boarded a bus and found myself in the presence of the awe-inspiring Chichen Itza. The site, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offered a glimpse into the grandeur of one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, El Castillo, also known as the Temple of Kukulcan.
The Pyramid of Kukulcan
Standing tall and mighty, the Pyramid of Kukulcan instantly commanded attention. With its impressive architecture and perfect alignment with astronomical phenomena, it served as both a religious and astronomical marvel. The pyramid, with its four sides and 91 steps on each side, leads to the temple's pinnacle, culminating in a total of 365 steps representing the solar year. Witnessing the equinox spectacle, where a serpent-like shadow slithers down the pyramid, left me in awe of the Mayan people's advanced understanding of celestial events.

To truly appreciate the wonders of Chichen Itza, it's essential to understand the Mayan civilization's historical significance.
