MGM Grand, one of the largest hotels in the world with over 6,000 rooms, has a storied history dating back to its opening in 1993. Originally themed as a Wizard of Oz emporium, the hotel has undergone several renovations to adapt to changing tastes and now embodies modern luxury and entertainment.

Arrival and VIP Treatment
The journey began with the hotel sending a driver to pick me up from the airport, a gesture that set the tone for the opulent experience ahead. Upon arrival, I bypassed the regular check-in desks and was escorted to a VIP check-in room. Adjacent to this was the VIP Lounge, an exclusive space for guests based on their room type or loyalty level. Though compact, the lounge was elegantly designed, offering complimentary beverages, including water, coffee, and soda, as well as snacks throughout the day.
The Skyloft Suite Experience
The exclusivity of the Skyloft suites was immediately apparent, accessible via a separate elevator leading directly to the 29th floor. My butler was waiting to greet me at the door, offering a warm welcome and a comprehensive tour of the suite. The suite itself was a marvel of modern design and comfort, spread over two floors.
First Impressions
Entering the suite, a guest half bath was conveniently located to the right, perfect for visitors. The living room, with its two-story windows, offered stunning views of the Las Vegas Boulevard and prominent landmarks like the New York-New York hotel. The ample seating, television, and a small work desk area, off in its own little nook, provided both leisure and functionality. The suite’s layout was thoughtfully designed, with the dining area featuring a long black table which had a selection of complimentary snacks waiting for me. There was a De'Longhi Coffee machine, and a cooler stocked with mini-bar items, including soda and beer. There was also a sink with a glass shelf above it with various bottles of wine and alcohol.
Bedroom and Amenities
The bedroom, situated upstairs, was a haven of luxury with a king-size bed, lounge chair, television, and breathtaking views of the strip through the glass wall overlooking the living room. The bathroom was equally impressive, equipped with dual sinks, a television embedded in the mirror, a Dyson hair dryer, a whirlpool hot tub, and a walk-in shower with multiple features including two rainfall shower heads, several body spray showers and a steam function. The shower’s glass wall overlooking the stairs was an interesting touch, though be aware that if you are taking a shower while someone is walking up or down the steps, you will give them a free show! The suite also boasted a spacious walk-in closet, complete with robes, slippers, and an unusually large safe.
