Kosher Place Grocery, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Copacabana Challah and Bissli Bliss
Kosher grocery store in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ✈
While in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I stopped by the Kosher Place grocery store to stock up on a few items. Located a few blocks away from Copacabana Beach, the store is hidden within the Clube Israelita Brasileiro, an athletic club with a rich history in Rio. This club, I came to learn, is a hub of activity, teeming with sports, culture, and camaraderie, providing a community center for the local Jewish population and people of all faiths.

“Kosher Place, with its diverse options and convenient location, is perfect for any traveler's kosher staples.”
As soon as I stepped inside the Kosher Place, the familiar aroma of fresh produce filled the air, while the neatly stacked aisles and friendly faces of the staff made me feel instantly at home.
What pleasantly surprised me was how affordable everything was. While Rio can sometimes be a bit heavy on the pocket, this store offered competitive prices without compromising on quality.
Navigating through the aisles, I found the store to have quite a variety of products. From local Brazilian kosher delights to imported good from Israel, the shelves brimmed with options. I couldn't resist picking up a bag of Bissli, the popular Israeli snack. It's a savory treat that comes in various flavors. It is made from wheat and is deep-fried, giving it a crunchy texture. Having a taste of Israel amidst the lively culture of Brazil felt like a delightful blend of two worlds.
I also couldn't resist the smell of the freshly baked goods. The challah rolls were calling out to me. For those unfamiliar, challah is a traditional Jewish bread, rich in history and symbolic significance. It's usually braided, golden on the outside, and soft within. Pareve in nature to accommodate Jewish dietary laws, these rolls were incredibly fluffy, with a slight sweetness, making them some of the best I've ever had.
Kosher Place, with its diverse options and convenient location, is perfect for any traveler's kosher staples. Whether you're on the hunt for kosher items or simply wish to try something new, this store is a must-visit.
Conveniently located at the Clube Israelita Brasileiro is also a kosher meat restaurant called ShaqShuq. There is also a food truck on the premises serving kosher dairy items, including pizza. Read the following article to learn more:
